Our Story
How Fei’s background in risk management shaped her approach to health. Fei is a data analytics professional with over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. She holds a master’s degree in Agricultural Economics and has extensive experience in new product development and risk management, emphasizing customer-centric solutions. Fei believes that managing health is similar to managing financial risks—both require proactive solutions to maximize the benefits and minimize the risks. Her personal health challenges led her to explore vitamins and supplements, including calcium for healthy muscle function, iron for energy support, and prenatal vitamins during pregnancy. Despite the wealth of information available, Fei struggled to find reliable and effective supplements. Many companies made unverified claims about their products, making it difficult for her to trust their effectiveness.
Derek’s unique expertise in understanding how health products really work. Derek, Fei’s husband, is a trained pharmacist with extensive knowledge of how different medicines and health products work. He holds a doctoral degree in Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), which means he studies how effective various health products are and whether they are worth the money. With over 15 years of experience in conducting large-scale research and analyzing and explaining data on the clinical and economic value of health products, Derek is passionate about the right use of dietary supplements to maintain health.
Why supplement quality and safety became personal for Derek. For Derek, his work is personal. He ensures that his family takes the right vitamins and supplements to address nutritional gaps and support overall well-being. His experience with his mother's bone health needs, which required calcium supplementation, highlighted the importance of proper labeling. His mother developed hyperthyroidism due to a mislabeled calcium supplement that contained iodine. Once she switched to a correctly labeled supplement that doesn’t contain iodine, her condition improved.
Derek’s FUEL method: building health choices on truth and evidence. Derek has always been focused on supporting his heart and metabolic wellness through food, use of supplements, exercise, and other lifestyle choices (what he calls the “FUEL” method). Upon researching supplement options, Derek noticed several challenges in today’s supplement market — from the overwhelming number of options, to how hard it can be to evaluate ingredient quality, and the fact that the level of research support often varies widely. For everyday consumers, these challenges can create uncertainty and make it difficult to feel confident in choosing the right supplement. Along the way, Derek found a few hidden gems in the supplement market, but he still felt that none fully met his personal standards for both quality and research for his personal needs. To create a supplement that fully matches Derek’s personal criteria, Fei and Derek decided to build a company grounded in truth and facts.
EVYLO™: the solution Derek created for heart and metabolic health — for himself and others. Their first launch, EVYLO™, was designed with heart and metabolic wellness in mind. Derek felt this product finally gave him the confidence he had been looking for — and he wanted others to feel that same sense of trust. Their long-term goal is to offer products supported by strong, high-quality evidence, helping people save time and feel confident in their wellness choices. Read the story below to learn why EVYLO™, the product Derek includes in his own daily routine, was created.
Why We Created EVYLO™
I’m getting older. I want my heart and metabolism to stay strong and balanced as I age. With my background as both a pharmacist and a doctoral healthcare researcher, I understand how profoundly these systems influence long-term health and well-being. Everyone talks about longevity—living not just longer, but better.
The truth?
It isn’t hidden in a miracle pill—it’s been in plain sight all along, waiting for those willing to understand and apply it.
Decades of rigorous scientific research—including guidance from the American Heart Association—have identified eight essential lifestyle and health factors, known as Life’s Essential 8, that promote optimal heart and metabolic wellness.
Science confirms these eight powerful habits can help support heart health and thus unlock lasting vitality.
These habits focus on supporting optimal cardiovascular wellness and metabolic balance as part of a healthy lifestyle.
That awareness motivated me to make meaningful lifestyle changes—and to take a closer look at vitamins and supplements.
But with so many available options—and so much marketing noise—I just felt overwhelmed!
Over the past few years, I’ve spent hundreds of hours conducting a holistic review of scientific evidence to separate the noise from the true signals that matter for heart and metabolic wellness.
Here’s what truly matters in choosing a supplement—and what’s too often missing in the real world.
Formulator transparency.
I want to know who actually formulates a supplement and their qualifications.
That gives me more confidence that the person behind it truly understands what they’re doing.
This is sometimes disclosed, but often not at all.
Scientific evidence.
Consumers rarely see clear, understandable evidence behind products.
Some supplements rely only on early lab or animal research, while others are backed by multiple, well-designed human studies.
We simply can’t know the right dosing for people if the research never reaches humans—and what value am I really gaining if the dose is off?
I might as well just focus on other free lifestyle changes instead.
The difference matters—and when companies either hide their data or overwhelm us with too much, it’s nearly impossible to tell which information is truly meaningful.
The range is huge—and it’s far too time-consuming for an average consumer to sort through.
Some brands say, “I’ve already done the work for you,” and maybe they have—but if nothing’s shared publicly, how would I ever know?
Formulation based on a comprehensive scientific evidence review is incredibly important.
As the body of research grows, we start to see both positive and negative findings—and what truly matters is whether the overall evidence remains consistently positive, how strong the health support appears to be, and whether the results are statistically meaningful.
Unfortunately, many companies cherry-pick studies and don’t give a clear picture of the most important science—something I see far too often.
Evidence-based dosing.
Recommended dosages should align with published scientific data or healthcare guidance.
I see so many different daily dosage recommendations—even for the same health purpose—that it leaves me more puzzled than ever.
If dose doesn’t matter, why am I using supplements? Honestly, it makes me laugh.
Manufacturing quality.
Meeting current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) standards is one of the most important quality indicators for supplements.
Most of us assume we can rely on the FDA to make sure that’s happening.
But the reality is, the FDA’s resources are limited—it inspects only about 5% of supplement manufacturing facilities in the U.S. each year.
That means it could take roughly 20 years to revisit the same facility for another inspection. Shocking, right?
That’s why the next best option is to look for proof that the facilities making a supplement are cGMP-certified by reputable, independent organizations.
Too often, though, I see vague icons like “GMP,” “cGMP,” or “FDA registered,” and I can’t help but wonder—what are you really trying to tell me?
Third-party testing.
Similarly, the FDA advises manufacturers to follow current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) standards—guidelines meant to help ensure that final products contain what’s on the label and are free from unwanted substances or contaminants.
Because FDA surveillance is limited, as noted earlier, the next best safeguard is third-party verification from reputable, independent organizations.
What concerns me is how few supplements actually carry credible third-party quality certifications—only about 4–12% overall.
Outside of core categories like vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, the percentage drops even further: certified products make up roughly one-third as many (<8% vs. 24%).
This matters deeply to me, since heart and metabolic health supplements—the area I care most about—typically fall into that under-certified group.
Some brands do perform their own third-party testing without pursuing official certification, but these tests are often unstandardized and the results rarely shared publicly.
Research has also found that 14–50% of supplements may contain ingredients or contaminants banned by sports authorities such as the World Anti-Doping Agency.
There’s no proof that uncertified or untested supplements are harmful, but I think they carry an unnecessary long-term risk—one I’d rather avoid.
Comprehensive heart and metabolic support.
I’ve been searching for supplements that provide well-rounded support for cardiovascular function and healthy metabolic activity.
Yet most of the products I’ve come across only target one or two of these areas, leaving the rest unaddressed.
After all that research, I came to a simple realization: the best path forward was to create what I couldn’t find—a supplement built from the ground up to meet the highest scientific, quality, and manufacturing standards, focusing solely on what truly supports heart and metabolic wellness.
Following more than 1,000 hours of research and development across 18 months, EVYLO came to life—a product built on uncompromising quality and unwavering authenticity.
It’s given me the confidence I was looking for.
Spending just 30 seconds a day making it part of my daily routine, it gives me confidence that I am fueling my body with a product that meets my own rigorous standards for quality and purity.
My sincere hope is that others seeking comprehensive support for their heart and metabolic health can experience the same trust and peace of mind.
Because when our health feels steady, life opens up—exploring new places, building our careers, being present with the people we love, and savoring the small moments that make life meaningful.
